Browlifts are typically performed with a combination of local anesthesia and sedation. For an endoscopic procedure, three small incisions are made within the hairline. The endoscope (camera) is then placed through the incisions and the brow is lifted and the wrinkle-causing muscles are weakened. The incisions are then sutured closed. The procedure typically takes one to two hours to perform.
There is minimal discomfort with the browlift procedure, though pain medication can be prescribed if necessary. Bruising and swelling may occur and tend to fade within about a week. The stitches are typically removed within seven days. Patients are typically able to return to work within a week, though strenuous activities will need to be avoided for several weeks.
The potential complications that may occur with browlift surgery can include adverse anesthesia reaction, bleeding, hematoma, infection, nerve injury, and the need for additional surgery.
